Stainless steel 304

Type 304 is the most widely used austenitic stainless steel.  Also known as '18-8' stainless because of its 18 percent chromium content and 8 percent nickel content, 304 stainless steel has good forming and welding properties, as well as strong corrosion resistance and strength, even at extremely low temperatures.

Due to its corrosion resistance by various chemicals found in fruits, meats and milk, it is found in sinks, tabletops, backsplashes, coffee pots, refrigerators, stoves and various other utensils and cooking appliances. Other areas of use include in architecture, handrail systems, chemical containers, heat exchangers, mining equipment, and in marine nuts, bolts and screws.

Other common uses for stainless steel type 304 include, food industry, for brewing, milk processing, wine making, pipelines and storage tanks.
